Congratulations to senior basketball player, Desmond Bane!
Desmond and his teammates kicked off the 2015 -2016 season with some impressive performances. The Cardinals opened their season at home with a victory over National Trail, 82-38. The home opener was followed up with two road wins - Centerville 66 -58; and Union County 47 -45.
A new school record for total career points was set by Bane on Friday night. The previous record, held by Adam Schroeder (’13), was 1,207 points. Desmond’s 29 point performance set the new record at 1,210. Schroeder was on hand, and presented Bane with the ball that broke the record.
A 6’-5” forward, Bane averaged 35.5 points and 13.0 rebounds over the first two games, and the senior headlines the honorees in the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association/Subway Player of the Week program for the week of Nov. 23-28. The IBCA/Subway Player of the Week is given to six players a week statewide, three girls and three boys. To learn more about this recognition please visit

In addition, Desmond was recently named WKBV Wetzel Auto Wayne County Athlete of the Week. Bane now sits at 1,281 points after the team’s first three games. We will continue to watch Desmond break his own record all season long.
